Warrington Borough Council wants to create the UK’s first carbon neutral town. It has a long established Climate Change Strategy — launched in 2007 — and had already taken many steps to cut its emissions. This investment helped fund the ambitious next steps in its plans by part funding a battery storage and solar farm near Cirencester, to help it generate enough clean energy to cover all the residents and businesses in the borough.
