Abundance investors raised £7m on Abundance in 2018 to help fund the O2 — the world’s most powerful tidal stream turbine. It was successfully constructed and installed off the coast of Orkney in 2021, and completed its commissioning programme in 2022. This second investment helped repay the initial construction finance, as well as funding the next stages in Orbital’s mission to deliver more multi-MW tidal projects in the UK.
