Monnow Valley CHP generates renewable electricity from dried wood chip to power an industrial estate in Herefordshire, and also produces renewable heat to dry wood chip for sale to other local biomass boilers. The business originally raised £3.9m in 2016, but delays in receiving accreditation for the Renewable Heat Incentive from Ofgem forced them to suspend operations. They raised a further £650,000 in 2019 to allow them to restart generation and the investment has since been restructured with investors now holding shares in the business.
