Hammersmith & Fulham reaches initial £5 million target

Today Hammersmith & Fulham Council is celebrating reaching their ambitious initial target of £5 million for their H&F Green Investment scheme.

The first of their six raises launched in 2023, and they have gone on to become the largest local green investment of its kind in the country. So far, 1,435 investors have taken part – the second highest figure of any municipal investment programme.

Reaching £5 million for vital green projects through our pioneering scheme is a landmark moment and big win for the people of Hammersmith & Fulham. No other council in the country has raised more this way.

Thank you to everyone who contributed towards our ambitious target. Your money has transformed streets, restored nature and helped make H&F a stronger, safer and kinder place to live.

It's also ruthless financial efficiency in action – making every pound work harder for local people and proving that doing right by our environment and doing right by our finances are not competing priorities. They never were.

Delivering real projects to benefit the community

H&F has delivered green projects across the borough

Nearly <£500,000 has been fully spent on completed green projects across the borough, and approximately £2.4 million’s worth of green projects are currently in delivery – from design and consultation through to construction on the ground.

Completed projects include new award-winning rain gardens at King Street in Hammersmith, creating natural flood defences while enhancing the street scene for local businesses and residents. Similar schemes are blooming in Edith Road, West Kensington, and Purscell Crescent in Fulham.

These projects join other success stories like the transformation from concrete paddling pool to green sanctuary at Eelbrook Common and a new community garden in Frank Banfield Park

Hammersmith & Fulham Council are a shining example of the power of municipal investments. Thousands of people are now active stakeholders in H&F’s project delivery, and they can see their money delivering real projects that are building a brighter future across the borough. It is exactly this kind of engagement we were hoping for when we launched our first municipal investments in 2020, and we look forward to seeing where H&F go next!
