Green projects to be funded

The money raised through the first Hounslow Green Investment will be used to fund essential community decarbonisation and greening projects.

Investing in a greener future for Hounslow

Hounslow Green Investment will help fund a number of the council’s programmes to support community climate action, and improve green space in the borough. The money invested in this first raise is expected to support a number of councils' innovative initiatives.

Funds will be used to help fund energy efficiency, green energy and greening projects within existing council green programmes:

  • Hounslow Community Energy Fund, which supports community-led decarbonisation projects including demand reduction, energy efficiency and renewable energy upgrades.
  • Thriving Communities Fund, which provides grants to charities, voluntary and community groups and places of worship in Hounslow.
  • Schools Decarbonisation which supports energy efficiency upgrades.
  • Clear Air for Schools which support a variety of interventions like air purifiers, cycle infrastructure and improving the building’s energy efficiency.
  • Active travel which supports cycleways installation and upgrades.
  • Circular Economy hubs with interventions like reuse and repair events.
  • Grow for the Future campaign, which is a pioneering Hounslow initiative and the UK’s first policy to transform unused council land to grow food and educate children on healthy living.
