The Green Deal Finance Company was originally a government body providing Green Deal loans for energy—saving home improvements but lost government funding in 2017. It was taken over privately by the GDFC Group, with its subsidiary GDFC Services raising funding on Abundance with the aim of reinvigorating the Green Deal. After the company ran into difficulty, this investment was restructured with investors now how holding warrants in the business.

In 2020, the business was bought by Tandem, a UK challenger bank founded in 2015, which aims to be the UK’s greener, digital bank providing people across the UK with sustainable ways to borrow and save.
